He achieved a significant milestone by qualifying the first ever Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) certified Aluminum-based component for commercial aircrafts, generating revenues exceeding $200 million.

In addition to his corporate roles, Ahmed is deeply involved in the advancement of additive manufacturing on a global scale. He serves as an additive manufacturing Advisor for the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME) where he provides guidance and expertise to drive industry growth and innovation. He is also recognized for his leadership within standards development in additive manufacturing, where he chairs the ASTM Committee F42.07.06 on Additive Manufacturing Applications in Electronics

A Professor at one of the nation's largest engineering programs, Texas A&M University, Dr. Elwany brings 20+ year of experience in advanced manufacturing and additive and smart manufacturing. He also held previous roles in industrial R&D in the automotive industry, as well as a Federal Fellow at U.S. government agencies providing technical expertise to inform national policies in advanced manufacturing, including the White House's 2022 National Strategic Plan on Advanced Manufacturing and more than $50 million in federal funding programs. He has led numerous projects sponsored by government agencies and industry. His contributions and impact have been recognized by multiple  prestigious national awards from leading organizations including the National Science Foundation (NSF), Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME), American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers (IISE), and American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE).
